The SURE Helpline Center was established in the early 1970s and was originally funded by two local farmers who wanted to help teens seeking help with drug addiction. At that time, the phone lines were only open for a few hours a day. As our community grew, so did the need for the services offered by the SURE Helpline Center. Presently, the Center offers para-professional counseling and referral services to all persons calling the 24-hour hotline.
The SURE Helpline Center is a private, non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors comprised of health care, social service and education professionals from throughout the Imperial County. The SURE Helpline Center is funded through the Imperial County Probation Department, Imperial County Behavioral Health Services, the Office of Criminal Justice Planning-Office of Emergency Services, United Way, D.O.V.E.S., Target, and private donations.
